Children will love and benefit from this workshop
whether they have had considerable experience in singing or none at all.
Singing is a wonderful form of artistic expression and is
not a ‘gift’ that only few of us have. It is a skill that can be learnt
and enjoyed by anyone who has a pair of lungs, a pair of ears and a set of vocal
chords! However, the earlier these skills are learnt, the more easily they
are absorbed and utilised. In a singing class, participants learn all
facets of vocal training including voice production, musicality and performance
skills.
What’s involved in
each class?
Classes begin with singing which involves musical games, vocal warm-ups, and singing songs from a variety of genres. In singing, the children learn how to sing in tune, harmonies & rounds, and
sing with good breathing and vocal techniques to achieve a strong and clear vocal quality. Participants also learn about solo singing and gain musicality through the various games and musical activities.
The second half of the class focuses on drama where children play drama games, perform improvised scenes, devise characters as well as learning the art of performing poetry and written scripts. Children gain skills in voice production for stage, improvisation, characterisation, stagecraft, movement, and most significantly, they become confident in expressing themselves through their bodies and voices – a skill that is also important for everyday life!
They then get to show off their new singing and acting skills in a wonderful, jam-packed concert!
